If you’ve seen the newest episode of The Clone Wars, “To Catch A Jedi”, then you must know what the title of this story is about. If you haven’t seen the episode, and don’t want it to be spoiled, turn back now. You’ve been warned.
From the moment Barriss entered into this story arc, in episode 18, “Sabotage”, I knew something big was afoot. Barriss is a character I really like, she’s strong, brave, and a very intelligent Jedi. And from the moment Letta said a Jedi taught her how to make the nanodroids, there’s been a sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach. Remember when Barriss asked Ahsoka, “Do you ever wonder if it’s right to ignore your emotions?”
Obviously, Barriss is conflicted about the ways of the Jedi. She has always struck me as a sort of ‘peacekeeper’. Now I know all the Jedi are supposedly keepers of the peace, but when you compare Barriss to, say, Anakin, or even Ahsoka, Barriss is much more mild-mannered. I’ve always wondered what she thought of the war. Now, I might have my answer.
There is much speculation going on as to whether Barriss is the Jedi who committed the bombing, and the one who framed Ahsoka. Some evidence that supports this theory:
•Barriss seems to act suspicious throught this story arc. She asks Ahsoka about Jedi policy, doesn’t make much eye contact, and generally seems like she’s conflicted about something.
•Barriss was the one Ahsoka contacted after going on the run, and Barriss promised to do some “digging” to see what clues she could find for Ahsoka’s behalf. I’ve been wondering about this a lot. Barriss is friends with Ahsoka, likely her best friend, but why is she so readily helping her? Barriss seems like too much of a rule-follower to risk helping a rogue Jedi with a bounty on her head. She must know Ahsoka isn’t responsible, and is trying to set her up by telling her to go to an abandoned factory.
•The person who is attacking Ahsoka in the factory must have known she was going there. Only Barriss knew that fact.
•The attacker is Barriss’ height, and is certainly a young female from the look of her. Also, she knows Ahsoka’s fighting style very well, enough to be defeating her in battle. (This brings up a whole other point; is Barriss a stronger warrior then Ahsoka, since she pretty much whooped her butt? I hate to think this, so I’ll assume Ahsoka’s just out of her game, distracted by so many things going on in her life to fight at top speed.)
•It isn’t Ventress, so who else could it be? It wouldn’t make sense for the villain to be someone we haven’t seen yet, would it? This arc is sort of like a crime drama, where the actual perpetrator must be shown during the course of events.
Of course, there are some reasons why it can’t be Barriss, namely:
1. Barriss would never do anything like this. She hasn’t shown any signs of rebellion before now. She and Ahsoka are close friends.
2. In the official SW history, Barriss is still a Jedi after the Clone Wars. (She gets killed during Order 66.) If she is the temple bomber, and gets found out, there’s no way the Jedi would let her stay, which means this next episode may contradict the movies themselves.
So, there’s my two-cents worth. The next, and last, episode this season, is about Ahsoka’s trial at the court, and Anakin’s search for the truth behind the set-up. Will he find out if Barriss is behind it? Only time will tell.
As I write this post, I have mixed feelings. First, let me tell you why I have these feelings.
If you haven’t heard yet, a new trailer for the four final “epic” episodes from The Clone Wars Season 5 has been posted online. (link at bottom of story)
I was excited, but expected it to be a normal little preview. Then, I read the summary of the clip:
The story of Ahsoka Tano takes an unexpected, shocking turn in the epic four-part conclusion to Star Wars: The Clone Wars Season Five.
My jaw dropped, my pulse quickened. Then, I watched it. Let me tell you this, if you are a fan of Ahsoka, or even the Clone Wars in general, you will feel emotional during this trailer. In one regard, I’m happy that Ahsoka’s story is getting some episodes, and I want to know how her ending turns out. But on the other hand…what will this mean for her?
In the first few moments, the trailer flashes back to when we does met Ahsoka, all the way back in season one. Then, it lets us know that the Clone Wars is moving very close to ending. The Chancellor has been taking control of the war away from the Jedi, and public trust has fled from the temple. Also, there is a dark force within the Jedi Temple itself. The Jedi council assigns Anakin and Ahsoka to handle it.
Then, the trailer shows us some brief clips of future episodes: Ahsoka talking with her old friend Bariss, spying on some clones, and fighting with a strange masked intruder. (Who is…Ventress!)
Then, Mace Windu says Anakin is too attached to his padawan to do what “needs to be done”.
At the last second, it shows Anakin holding Ahsoka’s green lightsaber, and someone saying “Some Jedi will disappoint us.”
I can’t believe it…but it seems like Ahsoka’s story, her FATE, is finally going to be explained. (You can watch the clip here, by the way.)
I can only conclude two possible endings…
Either Ahsoka, by some horrendous discovery, is turned to the dark side…
Or she is killed by Ventress.
And, since I cannot imagine Ahsoka turning from the path of good, I must only think it can be the second.
Well, this has been hard to write, but I’ve done it! So tell me what you think in the comments below!!
The plot line for the final four episodes is known! Read ahead only if wanting to be spoiled.
Ahsoka is implicated in a killing, and is arrested. She escapes into the underworld with Ventress, and in the final episode, Anakin, still believing her innocence, goes searching for the truth.
What have you guys thought of the season so far? I know that I’ve loved it, but I haven’t posted any episode reviews yet this season. (Sorry, I have a busy real-life. I wish I could sit by the computer all day and blog about SW.)
What with the Young Jedi arc, and now the arc featuring Wack and his group of droids, we’ve been getting away from the main Clone Wars characters for a while. I like this, but just bring Ahsoka back into this season soon!
The teasers, unfortunately, show nothing of Ahsoka or Anakin.
The first teaser shows Darth Sidious (aka Palpatine) arrive on a landing pad and choke some guards. I think I know what he’s doing too 😉
In the Clone Wars panel at comic con, they mentioned the Sith rule of two. Sidious isn’t happy that Maul and Savage are loose in the galaxy, and that’s why he’s going to go show them who’s boss.
The second part of the first teaser shows Obi-Wan dressed in Mandolorian garb and fighting…death watch? Probably.
(There’s a fun exchange at the end, as Obi-Wan and his female companion overlook a huge fight scene.
Female companion: Maul must really want you dead.
Obi: You have no idea.)
Teaser two is a intense, frightening scene of droids guarding a base…until Maul and his bro Savage Opress show up.
Also, they talked a bit about Ahsoka’s development in the new season at the Clone Wars panel in comic-con:
She has a great year. More than any other year there’s development on her character in a major way. I know that we’ve some things up with the character of Lux Bonteri last season, we follow through with a lot of that this season, and then we continue to see some pretty big things.
Well, hopefully these will wet our Clone Wars appetites until later.
Oh, and also I believe they announced that they will be showing the season five premiere at SW Celebration later this year.
Anyone planning on attending? Should the JediAhsoka blog team do a advance preview of the premiere and post it here?
Comment and let us know!
EDITOR’S NOTE: It has come to our attention that the episode titles 1 through 7 posted here may not be correct. We got our titles from a source we thought reliable, but sometimes even reliable sources provide false information. While I believe the titles 7-22 are correct, the titles for episodes 1-7 may not be. We have listed the titles that are thought to be correct here:
“A War on Two Fronts”
“The Soft War”
“An Old Friend”
“The Rise of Clovis”
“Crisis at the Heart”
Apparently these first seven titles have been revealed in an issue of a magazine by Dave Filoni. We still consider our source reliable though, so who knows? Just wanted to let you know. Now, here’s our original article:
Here are the titles for all 22 (always the same number of episodes in every season, wonder why?) episodes coming this fall! They seem a lot different compared to last seasons titles. Not only are they longer, but they also provide more information as to the content of the episode, unlike the generalist of last years titles like “Deception”.
Here are the titles in order:
Episode 1: Secrets of Darth Plagueis
Episode 2: Ancient Wars of Yoda
Episode 3: Millennium Falcon Liberated Part 1
Episode 4: Millennium Falcon Liberated Part 2
Episode 5: IG88 Loyal to None
Episode 6: First Jedi Revealed
Episode 7: Sith Holocrons of Darth Bane
Episode 8: Young Qui-Gon Jinn on Hancarth Part 1
Episode 9: Young Qui-Gon Jinn on Hancarth Part 2
Episode 10: Rescue of Boba Fett
Episode 11: Lightsaber Construction
Episode 12: Dark Coruscant Underground
Episode 13: Enter the Spice Mines of Kessel
Episode 14: The Journal of the Whills
Episode 15: The Enigma Dilemma
Episode 16: Mysteries of the Rodar Wizards
Episode 17: Ghost of Rage
Episode 18: Terror on Alderaan
Episode 19: Roar of the Wookiees
Episode 20: Kyber Crystal Revelation
Episode 21: Desperation of Grentarik
Episode 22: The Final Sacrifice.
So, first of all, AHHHHHHHHH! The new season is getting closer every day!! I’m very excited! (As you can tell from the long scream of joy.)
Secondly, WOW! Starting from the very first episode, we’re going to be going deep down into Star Wars history and secrets! This isn’t just watching little battles anymore, this is historic content!
Some highlights include learning the “secrets” of ancient sith lord Darth Plagueis in episode one! That will be an amazing start to the season.
Next, we get the priviledge of seeing the “Ancient Wars of Yoda”! I can’t wait to see the lil’ green guy hopping about with his lightsaber! It will be awesome to see Master Yoda in his younger days. Unless of course, this isn’t what the episode is about at all. They could be misleading names on purpose. But I highly doubt it. These names are pretty closed for interpretation.
The next two shows will be part one and part two of the liberation of the Millennium Falcon! OMG! Will we get to see a much younger Han Solo? That would be too amazing for words!
Next we have an episode that is presumably about a droid going rogue. That seems pale next to Yoda’s ancient wars and the secrets of Darth Plagueis, but I’m sure it will be great.
“First Jedi Revealed” is an interesting title, for sure. Could it be an episode about the first Jedi who ever lived? That’s a good guess, which is all we can do for now.
Then in episode seven, we’ll see what some sith holocrons contain. Darth Bane will be involved somehow, so it looks like Dave Filoni and company are trying to get older fans to watch the show with all these long gone sith lords.
Now comes one of the most surprising two-parters of all. “Young Qui-Gon Jinn on Hancarth”! WOW! (I know I keep saying that, but seriously, A YOUNG VERSION OF QUI-GON JINN??!) Apparently we will be watching the master of Obi-Wan when he was younger. I like these kind of big shocks, because normally the Clone Wars focuses on the times during the Clone Wars, but of course sometimes we need a break from that. Bringing in a big character like Qui-Gon and looking at his past will be fantastic to watch, and will be very informative for people who want to know more about the old Jedi.
“Rescue of Boba Fett” is one of the more normal episodes I expect from Dave Filoni. We saw some of Boba in season four, when he hired Asajj Ventress onto his bounty hunting team. Last I checked though, Boba was in prison on Coruscant. This is how he will break out, I’m sure, which will be fun to watch.
Episode eleven, “Lightsaber Construction” is another very interesting title. I suppose we’ll get to watch how a lightsaber is built, something that is clouded in mystery, since lightsaber crystals are very rare. Maybe Ahsoka or Anakin will be needing a new weapon, and will go make one?
“Dark Coruscant Underground” is one that I CAN tell what it will be about. The criminal scum that thrives in the deep down sections of the city of Coruscant. It’s always fun to get an in-depth look as to what it’s like down there. On the surface, Coruscant is a happy, thriving planet, but underneath…it is another story.
The next episode will deal with the underground “spice mines”. This one is perhaps the one that seems the most boring to me, but that might not be the case for you. (Comment below and tell me!)
“The Journal of the Whills”…this is another one that I cannot begin to guess about. So, I did some research into what the “Whills” are, exactly. (See, I come prepared when I write a blog post. No, just kidding.) The Whills are an ancient order of beings who are highly connected with the Force. Yep. That’ll be awesome to watch! This episode would seem to be like the Mortis trilogy from season 3, since it contains beings highly connected with the Force.
Episode fifteen is an “enigma”. (Haha, see what I did there? Used part of the title in a sentence? Yea, I’m cool like that.) Can’t begin to guess what this episode is about…(What do you think? Comment below!)
“Mysteries of the Rodar Wizards” sounds very mysterious. I’m guessing that some mysteries of the Wizards who live on Rodar will be revealed. (Just a guess there.)
Now here’s a fun one. “Ghost of Rage” is the next episode as we start to come to the end of Season Five. Perhaps a ghost will come back to haunt someone…and this ghost isn’t a friendly one either. Perhaps it is the ghost of an old sith? I’m open to speculation on this, so discuss in the comments.
This next one, “Terror on Alderaan” will be scary! It has the word Terror in the title! D: (Actually, it might be! Really!) Perhaps Darth Maul will pay the unsuspecting citizens a visit? Doncha just hate it when Maul comes to visit? Talk about an unwelcome guest…
This episode just sounds plain EPIC. “Roar of the Wookiees”. Can Clone Wars get any more amazing? I think not. Chewbacca has appeared once before, in the last episode of season three. Will he be seen again here? Maybe!
“Kyber Crystal Revelation” is a weird episode title. I’m excited to see what it’s about. Any guesses? Comment and tell me, cause I wanna know!
Now we are almost at the end (WAH!) with episode twenty-one, “Desperation of Grentarik”. (I really had trouble spelling that last word.) I am thinking that perhaps this one might be the trouble Dave Filoni spoke about Ahsoka facing. None of the other episode names really fit with that storyline I think. Also, if this one is the start of Ahsoka’s troubles, then the last one might end the season with an episode starring her! (Which would be awesome, even if it’s about her in trouble.)
Well, here we are…this episode title just sends chills down my back. Ready for it? “THE FINAL SACRIFICE”…Now, I’m going to scare you for a minute here. If you scare easily, then stop reading right now. Okay, here we go… Remember when I wrote a post about the “Fates of Ahsoka”? If you don’t, then go read our old blog posts! (Just kidding, you don’t have too.) But anyway, in that post, I mentioned a possibility my friend suggested to me about Ahsoka Tano’s fate. This idea would also advance Anakin’s fate, by pushing him towards the dark side. If someone died to save Anakin, he would be even more interested when Palpatine talks to him about saving people close to him. What if…Ahsoka DIED, saving ANAKIN SKYWALKER! (Sorry for the caps, I’m all worked up now.) It could happen! Listen to this quote from Clone Wars producer Dave Filoni:
I think that the character development that you saw this season is going to pay off next season, more than it has in any other season. We introduce several ideas about Ahsoka and where she’s going. Ahsoka has a huge year next year. And I think people who have been loyal to the show and have watched it since the beginning and watched this kid grow up, there are definitely… things that are going to happen to her next year that change her forever as a character, relating to the other characters especially. So that’s going to be a big deal.
So…Dave says the new season shows ideas about “where she (Ahsoka) is going”. He goes on to say “people who have been loyal to the show and have watched it since the beginning and watched this kid (Ahsoka) grow up” will get to see something that “changes her forever as a character”. Just think of this: Ahsoka, who has been Anakin’s padawan since the beginning of the show, who loves him as a teacher, she somehow saves him from doom, but in the process gets herself killed, or severely injured. Anakin is distraught, and is pushed towards the fear of losing people he loves. AAAAAHHHHHHHHH! I see Ahsoka’s demise written all over this! Just kidding, actually I don’t predict they will show her fate yet. But, this is very good evidence for her dying or something in the final episode of this season. Think about it…and tell me what you think by commenting belooow!
Well, there you have it. The overview of Season Five, coming this fall. Tell me what you think about all this amazing stuff (and Ahsoka’s demise, perhaps?) by commenting. Oh, and also take our poll below.
Watching the Clone Wars season five trailer again yesterday, I noticed something. Asajj Ventress is absent from the video!
Almost every other main character is there: Dooku, Savage, Maul, Kenobi, Yoda…but not Ventress.
Could this mean she’s not in the new season? Yes! When we last saw her, she was leaving her former life for a new one. Away from the sith, away from the Jedi, and away from our tv screens! I’m thinking the producers and writers will leave her out of it to let her fate remain a mystery.
Of course, I do like Ventress, even though she is a villain, so I hope she makes at least a brief appearance. Fingers crossed!
Can’t wait for the new season! 😀
What do you think about this? Did you notice anything else interesting about the new season trailer? Comment below!
So, season 5 of the Clone Wars is coming up this fall, and we are SUPER EXCITED! 😀 The new season should be epic.
Every year since the first season, back in 2008 I believe, the animation, acting, and story lines have become better and better. What started with doubt over the adding of a padawan for Anakin, has turned into a show that most Star Wars fans now accept as a true Star Wars series. I think a lot of the change in attitude is because of the shows growing maturity.
Anyway, we know a few things about the upcoming season, thanks in part to interviews with people who work on the Clone Wars TV show, and in part to a trailer that you can watch here.
One thing we know is that we will be seeing a lot more of Death Watch in season 5. I think thats a good thing. Fans of the Mando’s argue that the Clone Wars hasn’t given them enough screen time. In part, I agree. They are a big part of Star Wars, and until last season they were strangely absent. This has apparently been fixed now. I’m guessing that Death Watch, Lux Bonterri, and Ahsoka will somehow all be tangled up together again.
Of course, we will see much more of the two sith brothers. When you bring back a character like Maul to the Clone Wars, he’s going to be given a lot of screen time because it’s a big move to move him from ‘presumed dead’ to ‘alive in the Clone Wars’. Personally, I’d much rather focus on things that AREN’T in the movies. I mean, we know who the sith are. We know how they work. Why not focus on something less understood? Oh well, I’m sure it’ll still be great to watch.
A huge plus about this upcoming season to me is that Dave Filoni, the director of the Clone Wars tv show has said on his Facebook page that Ahsoka will “face one of her biggest challenges ever.” OMG! That’ll be fun to see for sure! Could this be the season where her fate is finally explained? Don’t bet on it. Clone Wars has at least two more seasons after season five, and they’re going to need Ahsoka’s continued appearances to attract young female fans.
So, now you know a little bit about what to expect. If you haven’t done so yet, head over to Star Wars.com to watch the official Clone Wars season five trailer. It’s short, but all we have for now.
What are some things that YOU would love to see in season 5? Comment and tell us!
