The Clone Wars Season 6 – Lost Missions Thoughts/Review

Well, I signed up for the free trial of Netflix just to watch these. And, frankly, I was a bit disappointed. Jar Jar Binks teaming up with Mace Windu? I mean, not quite the stuff final seasons are made of, right? But some of these episodes weren’t necessarily meant to be included in the final season. The Clovis arc with the fairly uninteresting storyline revolving around the banking clan was originally meant for a previous season, but got cut due, probably because the team decided there were better episodes to include.

It was interesting to see how much Yoda blames himself for Ahsoka’s departure.

I do like that there is a brief cameo from Ahsoka. I wasn’t expecting her at all, so that’s a small bonus. Her little speech to Yoda really made me revisit the devastation the council’s decision caused her. Becoming a Jedi master was her dream, ever since she was a youngling. But the council pushed her away. I’m secretly still hoping for another appearance in some form, but I highly doubt she will ever go back to the Order. So, yeah, her cameo was great.

But what about the ‘loose ends’ Dave Filoni and TCW team said the Lost Missions would clear up? Sure, we know more about Order 66 and the Force. That’s neat. But what happens to Captain Rex, Asajj Ventress, and Hondo Ohnaka? I’d hoped at least one of their fates would be addressed.

Overall, I’d say the best parts of Season 6 were the first and the last. Fives’ storyline was a fantastic idea that gave us a closer look at the background of Order 66, although the execution was a little clunky. (And that annoyingly helpful droid…ugh.)

It was awesome to see Padme and Anakin’s relationship get tested, even in a boring banking clan plotline. Seriously, I was surprised TCW didn’t delve more into their romance. It would have been an opportunity to show things the movies could never dig deeply into, such as the couple’s everyday life, and the hardships that come with a forbidden love.

Mace and Jar Jar I could’ve done without.

Yoda’s big adventure was a nice way to finish of the series.  Although I still consider Ahsoka’s departure the ‘official’ ending point. The Priestesses looked to be inspired by famed creator Hayao Miyazaki’s signature style, which I appreciated. Oh, and did anyone catch the neat circular format? The Clone Wars movie began this thing by introducing Ahsoka. Then the series got cancelled as she left. Likewise, the first episode of TCW series focused on Yoda, just like the last episode of Season 6. That’s kinda interesting.

What do you guys think about Season 6? I’d love to discuss your thoughts in the comments section! Oh, and by the way, here’s an article published io9 about how Ahsoka is the greatest thing to happen to Star Wars in 20 years. Naturally, I agree. So go read the article!

Deleted Scene: Ahsoka’s speaks her mind to the Jedi counsel before leaving

USA Today has published a clip which appears on the bonus features of the new Clone Wars DVD that came out today. In this new clip, we see an unfinished scene. The Jedi counsel members are outside with Ahsoka and Anakin in this scene. It basically progresses the same as the final version which aired, except Ahsoka says coldly, “They never should have told me to leave.”

I know that when the final aired, I felt like she didn’t express enough anger with the counsel, so the fact that she lets out some steam in this scene makes me happy. Watch it for yourself below, and then comment and tell me what you think!

TCW Bonus Content coming early 2014!

Dave Filoni, supervising director of The Clone Wars, has announced on his twitter and facebook accounts that the remaining episodes of the show have been finished, and should be released sometime early next year. Read the full text of his announcement below!

Star Wars fans – I have some exciting news! We have wrapped production on all of the remaining Star Wars: The Clone Wars episodes, and while that might be sad news in one way, it’s good news in another. It means you will finally get to see them. When, exactly, is a detail I cannot yet share. I can confirm that in early 2014 you will be watching the final episodes of The Clone Wars, including one of Master Yoda’s most challenging missions. So, get ready. We’ve got Clone Wars and Rebels coming at you in 2014. Animated Star Wars is alive and well. Trust in the Force my friends.
– Dave

Though I was hoping for the rest of the episodes a little sooner, at least we have an approximate date for when to be expecting them. Discuss your feelings in the comments section!

Star Wars and Disney?

Well, by now I’m sure you’ve already heard that Disney has purchased Lucasfilm, and now owns the rights to make new Star Wars movies, which the new head of the Disney/Lucasfilm enterprise has said is a sure thing. If you hadn’t heard, then…surprise! Lucky you got to hear the news from us.
Take note that I didn’t call the news ‘good’ or ‘bad’. You, of course, will have your own personal feelings on the matter, and if you’re like most older SW fans, you’re silently cursing Disney and George for making this move.
But before you begin (or continue) chiding Lucas for his latest business deal, hear us out.
This doesn’t have to be a bad thing.
Disney is a huge company, and like them or not, they have produced some great movies in the past. They have huge budgets, the latest facilities, and paid Lucas a heck of a lot of money. (But who’s counting? Not us.)
George’s reasons for selling Star Wars to Disney are simple.

He wanted to his movies, his story, his Star Wars universe, to have an extended life. Think about it: the SW movies aren’t so hot anymore. Most of them were made before a lot of younger SW fans were even born. The SW movies aren’t the reason the franchise is still going strong. It’s the new things, like The Clone Wars tv series, the clothing lines, the action figures, the SW Legos, that have swept in the legions of 5-12 year olds. But what would have happened in 10-20 years, if Lucas hasn’t sold? He would be retired, the TV shows would probably be off-air, the clothing and action figures lying in a thrift store somewhere. And this is exactly what he’s said in a video interview published on the SW youtube channel. By selling to Disney, he’s essentially sacrificing control of his company for the long-life of his universe. People might not be happy about the new movies that are now for sure being made by Disney (episode 7 in 2015, supposedly), but at least new movies will pull in new fans, and breathe new life into Star Wars. About the new movies: Though Lucas said HE would never make any more, he apparently is okay with OTHER people making more. “I can be a fan now,” he commented, calling it more fun then actually making creating them. (let’s just hope Disney doesn’t create a laugh-track filled sitcom based off of Star Wars, with the Jedi council members each trading quips for the audiences pleasure.)

So, in short, I’m enthusiastic about this new development. If Disney can make the right moves, keep the characters true to themselves, and pull off the right amounts of action/adventure/fantasy/comedy, then this might be fun. But then again, that’s a big IF…

Ahsoka DIES in Season Five?! New season overview/predictions and episode titles revealed!

Clone Wars Season Five Logo

The new season starts this fall!

EDITOR’S NOTE: It has come to our attention that the episode titles 1 through 7 posted here may not be correct.  We got our titles from a source we thought reliable, but sometimes even reliable sources provide false information.  While I believe the titles 7-22 are correct, the titles for episodes 1-7 may not be.  We have listed the titles that are thought to be correct here:

01 “A War on Two Fronts”
02 “Front Runners”
03 “The Soft War”
04 “Tipping Points”
05 “An Old Friend”
06 “The Rise of Clovis”
07 “Crisis at the Heart”

Apparently these first seven titles have been revealed in an issue of a magazine by Dave Filoni. We still consider our source reliable though, so who knows? Just wanted to let you know. Now, here’s our original article:

——————-

Here are the titles for all 22 (always the same number of episodes in every season, wonder why?) episodes coming this fall!  They seem a lot different compared to last seasons titles.  Not only are they longer, but they also provide more information as to the content of the episode, unlike the generalist of last years titles like “Deception”.

Here are the titles in order:

Episode 1: Secrets of Darth Plagueis
Episode 2: Ancient Wars of Yoda
Episode 3: Millennium Falcon Liberated Part 1
Episode 4: Millennium Falcon Liberated Part 2
Episode 5: IG88 Loyal to None
Episode 6: First Jedi Revealed
Episode 7: Sith Holocrons of Darth Bane
Episode 8: Young Qui-Gon Jinn on Hancarth Part 1
Episode 9: Young Qui-Gon Jinn on Hancarth Part 2
Episode 10: Rescue of Boba Fett
Episode 11: Lightsaber Construction
Episode 12: Dark Coruscant Underground
Episode 13: Enter the Spice Mines of Kessel
Episode 14: The Journal of the Whills
Episode 15: The Enigma Dilemma
Episode 16: Mysteries of the Rodar Wizards
Episode 17: Ghost of Rage
Episode 18: Terror on Alderaan
Episode 19: Roar of the Wookiees
Episode 20: Kyber Crystal Revelation
Episode 21: Desperation of Grentarik
Episode 22: The Final Sacrifice.
So, first of all, AHHHHHHHHH! The new season is getting closer every day!! I’m very excited! (As you can tell from the long scream of joy.)
Secondly, WOW!  Starting from the very first episode, we’re going to be going deep down into Star Wars history and secrets!  This isn’t just watching little battles anymore, this is historic content!
Some highlights include learning the “secrets” of ancient sith lord Darth Plagueis in episode one!  That will be an amazing start to the season.
Next, we get the priviledge of seeing the “Ancient Wars of Yoda”!  I can’t wait to see the lil’ green guy hopping about with his lightsaber!  It will be awesome to see Master Yoda in his younger days.  Unless of course, this isn’t what the episode is about at all.  They could be misleading names on purpose.  But I highly doubt it.  These names are pretty closed for interpretation.
The next two shows will be part one and part two of the liberation of the Millennium Falcon!  OMG! Will we get to see a much younger Han Solo?  That would be too amazing for words!
Next we have an episode that is presumably about a droid going rogue.  That seems pale next to Yoda’s ancient wars and the secrets of Darth Plagueis, but I’m sure it will be great.
“First Jedi Revealed” is an interesting title, for sure.  Could it be an episode about the first Jedi who ever lived? That’s a good guess, which is all we can do for now.
Then in episode seven, we’ll see what some sith holocrons contain.  Darth Bane will be involved somehow, so it looks like Dave Filoni and company are trying to get older fans to watch the show with all these long gone sith lords.
Now comes one of the most surprising two-parters of all.  “Young Qui-Gon Jinn on Hancarth”!  WOW! (I know I keep saying that, but seriously, A YOUNG VERSION OF QUI-GON JINN??!)  Apparently we will be watching the master of Obi-Wan when he was younger.  I like these kind of big shocks, because normally the Clone Wars focuses on the times during the Clone Wars, but of course sometimes we need a break from that.  Bringing in a big character like Qui-Gon and looking at his past will be fantastic to watch, and will be very informative for people who want to know more about the old Jedi.

“Rescue of Boba Fett” is one of the more normal episodes I expect from Dave Filoni.  We saw some of Boba in season four, when he hired Asajj Ventress onto his bounty hunting team.  Last I checked though, Boba was in prison on Coruscant.  This is how he will break out, I’m sure, which will be fun to watch.

Episode eleven, “Lightsaber Construction” is another very interesting title.  I suppose we’ll get to watch how a lightsaber is built, something that is clouded in mystery, since lightsaber crystals are very rare. Maybe Ahsoka or Anakin will be needing a new weapon, and will go make one?

“Dark Coruscant Underground” is one that I CAN tell what it will be about.  The criminal scum that thrives in the deep down sections of the city of Coruscant.  It’s always fun to get an in-depth look as to what it’s like down there.  On the surface, Coruscant is a happy, thriving planet, but underneath…it is another story.

The next episode will deal with the underground “spice mines”.  This one is perhaps the one that seems the most boring to me, but that might not be the case for you.  (Comment below and tell me!)

“The Journal of the Whills”…this is another one that I cannot begin to guess about.  So, I did some research into what the “Whills” are, exactly. (See, I come prepared when I write a blog post. No, just kidding.)  The Whills are an ancient order of beings who are highly connected with the Force.  Yep.  That’ll be awesome to watch! This episode would seem to be like the Mortis trilogy from season 3, since it contains beings highly connected with the Force.

Episode fifteen is an “enigma”.  (Haha, see what I did there? Used part of the title in a sentence? Yea, I’m cool like that.)  Can’t begin to guess what this episode is about…(What do you think? Comment below!)

“Mysteries of the Rodar Wizards” sounds very mysterious.  I’m guessing that some mysteries of the Wizards who live on Rodar will be revealed. (Just a guess there.)

Now here’s a fun one.  “Ghost of Rage” is the next episode as we start to come to the end of Season Five.  Perhaps a ghost will come back to haunt someone…and this ghost isn’t a friendly one either.  Perhaps it is the ghost of an old sith? I’m open to speculation on this, so discuss in the comments.

This next one, “Terror on Alderaan” will be scary!  It has the word Terror in the title! D: (Actually, it might be! Really!)  Perhaps Darth Maul will pay the unsuspecting citizens a visit?  Doncha just hate it when Maul comes to visit? Talk about an unwelcome guest…

This episode just sounds plain EPIC. “Roar of the Wookiees”.  Can Clone Wars get any more amazing? I think not.  Chewbacca has appeared once before, in the last episode of season three.  Will he be seen again here?  Maybe!

“Kyber Crystal Revelation” is a weird episode title.  I’m excited to see what it’s about.  Any guesses? Comment and tell me, cause I wanna know!

Now we are almost at the end (WAH!) with episode twenty-one, “Desperation of Grentarik”.  (I really had trouble spelling that last word.)  I am thinking that perhaps this one might be the trouble Dave Filoni spoke about Ahsoka facing.  None of the other episode names really fit with that storyline I think.  Also, if this one is the start of Ahsoka’s troubles, then the last one might end the season with an episode starring her! (Which would be awesome, even if it’s about her in trouble.)

Well, here we are…this episode title just sends chills down my back.  Ready for it?  “THE FINAL SACRIFICE”…Now, I’m going to scare you for a minute here.  If you scare easily, then stop reading right now.  Okay, here we go…            Remember when I wrote a post about the “Fates of Ahsoka”?  If you don’t, then go read our old blog posts! (Just kidding, you don’t have too.) But anyway, in that post, I mentioned a possibility my friend suggested to me about Ahsoka Tano’s fate.  This idea would also advance Anakin’s fate, by pushing him towards the dark side.  If someone died to save Anakin, he would be even more interested when Palpatine talks to him about saving people close to him.  What if…Ahsoka DIED, saving ANAKIN SKYWALKER! (Sorry for the caps, I’m all worked up now.)  It could happen! Listen to this quote from Clone Wars producer Dave Filoni:

I think that the character development that you saw this season is going to pay off next season, more than it has in any other season. We introduce several ideas about Ahsoka and where she’s going. Ahsoka has a huge year next year. And I think people who have been loyal to the show and have watched it since the beginning and watched this kid grow up, there are definitely… things that are going to happen to her next year that change her forever as a character, relating to the other characters especially. So that’s going to be a big deal.

So…Dave says the new season shows ideas about “where she (Ahsoka) is going”.  He goes on to say “people who have been loyal to the show and have watched it since the beginning and watched this kid (Ahsoka) grow up” will get to see something that “changes her forever as a character”.  Just think of this: Ahsoka, who has been Anakin’s padawan since the beginning of the show, who loves him as a teacher, she somehow saves him from doom, but in the process gets herself killed, or severely injured.  Anakin is distraught, and is pushed towards the fear of losing people he loves.  AAAAAHHHHHHHHH!  I see Ahsoka’s demise written all over this!  Just kidding, actually I don’t predict they will show her fate yet.  But, this is very good evidence for her dying or something in the final episode of this season.  Think about it…and tell me what you think by commenting belooow!

Well, there you have it.  The overview of Season Five, coming this fall.  Tell me what you think about all this amazing stuff (and Ahsoka’s demise, perhaps?) by commenting. Oh, and also take our poll below.

Updated Blog Design!

Well, since we’ve been using the same old booooring style for a while now, I thought it was time for a change.
The old header image especially needed an upgrade. That one image just…did not look like Ahsoka. (If you’ve been here in the last few months, you might know what I’m talking about).

This new design is fresh, and feels more current. Also, the so called ‘sticky’ posts that are super important will now always be a the top of the home page.

Thanks for all your guys’ feedback and we look forward to posting more interesting and relevant content as Clone Wars Season 5 approaches. (Season 5 is due this fall. You’ll notice there is now a countdown on the left hand side for it! )

Please let us know what you think of the switch in design by commenting below 😀
